Jumma woman killed after rape

A JUMMA woman has been murdered allegedly after rape in Manikchari
under Khagrachari district, daily newspapers say.

The daily Samakal has reported that some unidentified terrorists on
Saturday night choked a Jumma woman to death after raping her at

The Prothom Alo, another Bengali daily, identified the deceased as

Her dead body was recovered from her house yesterday, Saturday (March 26, 2011).

Ms Nowbai Marma’s husband, Suicha Prue Marma, a day labourer, filed a
case with Manikchari police station yesterday.

The police have arrested three suspects in connection with the
incident, the daily further said.

The arrested are Md. Selim, Sahabuddin and Firoz.

Hill Women’s Federation general secretary Konika Dewan has condemned
the rape and murder of Nowbai Marma and demanded that the culprits be
awarded maximum punishment.

HWF will hold a protest demonstration today in Khagrachari.
